My painting “Waiting Again” was accepted into the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional show which will be at Richland Fine Art in Nashville, Tennessee October 17 - November 15, 2008.
JAY RESSLER - I'm proud to let you know, my photo, "Pittsburgh Winter Garden" was awarded a "Judge's Choice Award" at the 2008 Monroeville Arts Festival. It also received an "Honorable Mention in Photography" Ribbon. 294 Pieces were submitted by 94 artists. In addition to a best in show, which went to photographer Aaron Loughner, first prizes were awarded in five categories. There were 20 Judges Awards drawn from all categories and three Honorable Mention Awards in each of five categories.

MARTHA ELLEN RESSLER - Martha Ellen Ressler recently completed a series of 15 paintings for McConway & Torley, a foundry in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh that produces couplers and related castings for the railroad industry. Eleven of the paintings form a collage, hung on the wall of the main conference room. They depict key aspects of production in the company’s facility, such as molding, pouring and finishing. Ressler also works for McConway & Torley as an administrative assistant. Both workers and management are clearly delighted with the results, which have helped to instill a sense of pride in their work.

BRIAN D MCDORM0TT - Recently I got two of my still-life pastel paintings accepted into two "national juried art exhibitions". The first one was in Old Forge, New York, I won the "Cheap Joe's Art Supply Award". The second show was in Bath, Maine, I won the "Pastel Society of the West Coast Award". My wife and I attended the "opening nights" of both shows, we were blown away by how good all the artwork was. I consider myself very lucky to have recieved awards. We also got a chance to meet and talk with Doug Dawson and his wife. Doug is a nationally respected pastel painter, we went to his pastel demonstration after the show in Maine. Doug also was the "juror of awards" for both shows. The whole experience was great and very inspirational.
AMY DIMICHELE - 1.)One of my paintings was chosen to be displayed in the opening exhibit of a new gallery in Pittsburgh, The 15 Minutes Gallery; show runs from June 12 - August 29. 2.) Displayed self-portrait as a participating artist of PSA, "Me, Myself and I", at the Third Street Gallery in Carnegie, May - June 28. 3.) One of the participating artists in the Three Rivers Art Festival, AAP‘s "Icing on the Cake", to receive a merit award from the Board Members of the TRAF. (an acrylic painting, "Happy 250th Birthday, Pittsburgh...How Sweet It Is !" 4.) Art Instructor to physically and sexually abused children of Holy Family Institute through the HFI After-School/Summer Art Program, April and presently ongoing 5.) First visual art teacher to pioneer the visual arts through the newly founded (McKees Rocks) Father Ryan Arts Center Summer Art Program, to Adults and also to the children in three project sites.
ANNE HAYES - Anne Hayes was awarded Best of Category and an additional Honorable Mention at the Butler Art Center Spring Show. Her pastels will also be in the upcoming show at the Warhol Museum.
JAMES C HORTON - I will be exhibiting at the "Art in the Garden" annual invitation only show at The Lemoyne House in Washington PA. Proceeds of sales go to the Washington County Historical Society. It is an outdoor show and is well attended. Each artist is permitted to exhibit 3 pieces 20 '' or smaller in height and width. I've exhibited there the past few years and there are many great pieces submitted by many well known artist's from the area. I consider it an honor to exhibit with them. The date for the show is Sunday September 7.
KEN BEER - Ken Beer had prints accepted in four- 2008 juried museum exhibitions : The Westmoreland Museum BIENNIAL in Greensburg--, The State Museum of Pennsylvania "ART OF THE STATE" 41st Annual Juried Exhibition in Harrisburg-- ,The Butler Institute of American Art Museum "72nd MIDYEAR" in Youngstown, Ohio and The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, "ART IN COMMON". Ken also will judge the 2008 Penn Hill's Art Festival. Ken Beer and Terri Perpich's monotype on fiberglass fabric collaboration was in the Hoyt Mid Atlantic (juried by Douglas Fogle, Curator of Contemporary Art at Carnegie Museum) Ken is also in two 2008 Exhibitions at Altoona and Ligonier's Southern Alleghenies Museums of Art.
TERRI PERPICH - Terri Perpich is exhibiting works in the juried 2008 National Open Pittsburgh Society of Sculptors Exhibition, SPACE AND PLACE, at Manchester Craftsmen's Guild,-- The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, ART IN COMMON, ---the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, IMAGES 2008, in the Robeson Gallery on the Penn State Campus-- and the Sweetwater, Sewickley, juried FIGURE exhibition. -----Terri had 3 fiber pieces in the juried THREAD FROM BODY TO SOUL at Borelli Edwards Gallery and 2 of her prints from the Southern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Centennial Exhibition in Greensburg were chosen for the Southmoreland Exhibition and Gala. (The Southmoreland selects up to three works for their permanent collection) --She also donated a print in Persad's Auction, CELEBRATE ART, CELEBRATE LIFE at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Terri Perpich received a juror's award in Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art "Art in Common" and her 2008 exhibitions include: the Hoyt Mid Atlantic (juried by Douglas Fogle, Curator of Contemporary Art at Carnegie Museum), the AQUEOUS International Watercolor Exhibition at Third Street Gallery in Carnegie, Sweetwater Center for the Arts "Figure" Show in Sewickley, and Artform Gallery in Lower Burrell. Terri was also the judge for this October's Penn Art Association Show at Boyce College.
Gloria Goldsmith Hersch - Gloria Goldsmith Hersch received a Second Place and Judge's Mention awards at the Murrysville Community Days Art Exhibit held in the Murrysville Municipal Building 8/23 & 8/24/08.
Gloria Goldsmith Hersch received a 2nd Place Award for her Mixed Media piece at the Norwin Art Club's 34th Annual Art Show held at the Monroeville Mall 9/11-9/14/08. Gloria Goldsmith Hersch's painting "A Day in Autumn" has been juried into the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art Exhibit in Ligonier PA to be held 11/28/08 through 2/14/09. Opening Reception & Awards 11/29/08, 6:00-8:00 PM. This same painting is one of several selected for the Greater Latrobe School District's 2008 Art Gala to be held November 6, at which time the high school's student body will vote for one piece to be added to the school's art collection of nearly 200 works started in 1936. Gloria's painting "Dick's Diner" was added to the collection in 2002.Gloria Goldsmith Hersch received a Judge's Award at the Penn Art Association exhibit being held at CCAC Boyce campus. The show runs 10/6-10/31/08.
Marianne Marino - Marianne Marino's painting "The Aspirant" has been juried into the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society's Aqueous Open 2008-- its' 62 Annual International Exhibit. The show will hang at 3rd Street Gallery from Sept. 26--Oct. 24. She is also represented in the PWS's exhibit, All Mixed Up at The Artloft Gallery through Sept. 29. Marianne has had three paintings (one of which won an award) accepted in the Hoyt Artists Association exhibit , Fellows Riverside Gardens at Weller Gallery in Youngstown, Ohio. The show runs through Nov. 9, 2008.
