The wearable object has a long history of holding strong meaning and communicating specific intention, for both the maker and the wearer. Jewelry art enjoys a unique connection of intimacy with the viewer. These qualities can inherently amplify concept and expression of social awareness, political ideology, gender identity, personal experience, etc. The Statement Pieces exhibition showcases jewelry created not only to wear, but to tell a story, communicate an idea, or to make a statement.

Artists Include: Yasmina Conti, Rachel Andrea Davis, Dawna Gillespie, Bethany James, Cathryn Jasterzbski, Katie Kameen, Karen Krieger, LaVerne Kemp, Mary B Mason, Erin McCue, Adwowa Obeng-Osei, Liz Sabol, Rebecca Schena, Sarah Jane Sindler, Cyan Mengxin Zhang, and Yingqi Puffy Zhao.

Lisa Bergant Koi would like to share a bit of studio news.

In June, Jan Brandt Gallery in Bloomington, Illinois, exhibited her latest body of work in a solo show titled "Configuring the Collection". That body of work, with the addition of several paintings, is now on display through the end of August as a solo exhibition at Gallery 201 in Morgantown, West Virginia.

She also currently has a painting in the 41st Annual Small Works Exhibition at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

This week she was interviewed by artist David Linneweh for episode #196 of his podcast, Studio Break.  If you'd care to listen, you can find the conversation here:  studiobreak.com
